$1 million jackpot at FLB!
By Barbara Engler

The FLB Casino in Folsom has just launched a $1 million bad beat jackpot. That’s right, Dr. Evil … one … millllllion dollars!

The best thing about this bad beat jackpot (besides being the biggest bad beat Texas Hold’em jackpot on the West Coast) is that it costs the players absolutely nothing. There is no collection for this particular jackpot, as it is funded solely by the FLB Casino.

It’s going to be a tough one to hit, too, but that’s not surprising with $1 million up for grabs. The bad beat hand is four-of-a-kind fours (4-4-4-4) beaten by an suit royal flush. Forty percent (that’s $400,000) will be paid to the bad beat hand, 20 percent to the winning hand and the other 40 percent will be divided by the other players at the table. This unique bonus is available to both limit and no-limit players at FLB.

“It’s like getting a free lottery ticket every time you get dealt cards, and I know where to get that winning ticket,” said Ron Wills, a regular customer at the FLB Casino. “This is by far the biggest poker jackpot I’ve ever seen, hands down!”

In addition to the new million dollar jackpot, the FLB still offers their $10,000 seeded Bad Beat Progressive Jackpot, which has hit five times in the last 10 months for an average of $23,000 each time. Currently, this jackpot is aces full of kings (A-A-A-K-K) beaten by quad deuces (2-2-2-2) or better.

Between freerolls and jackpots, the FLB Casino has gave their players back over $350,000 in 2007. FLB is known for their daily tournaments and their $1/2, $2/3 and $3/5 no-limit games, but starting January 1, 2008 they are offering their limit players the lowest collection in Sacramento in addition to the biggest jackpot on the West Coast. FLB's limit $2/4, $3/6 and $4/8 games now have a $2 drop for 5 to 6 players and a $3 drop for 7 to 8 players with a no flop, no drop policy.

Clonie Gowen visits FLB

On November 4, 2007, 39 players had the privilege of playing in a tournament with established pro and Full Tilt team member Clonie Gowen. The $320 buy-in tournament had a total prize pool of $12,000. First place and $4,680 went to Vic Campana, with Richard Sutliffe coming in second to take home $2,400. Johnathan Epstein placed third for $1,800, while Bruce Grundy was fourth netting $1,080. Seven places were paid in total, with fifth through seventh receiving $840, $720 and $480 respectively.

Gowen was gracious and generous throughout the afternoon, chatting with players and other customers while signing countless autographs. She even stuck around to play some live action after being knocked out of the tournament.

“Any time you can get someplace beautiful like this in California, it’s great. It’s never a bad thing to come to California,” she said. “It just feels like a very friendly place [the FLB Casino]. If there was someplace like this when I first started playing, I don’t know how I’d have ever left it.”

On January 5, Lou Gallagher and Tara Pascale of Poker Room Radio were the special guests at another $320 buy-in tournament at FLB.

The FLB Casino plays Texas Hold’em, Omaha Hi-Lo and pot-limit, as well as No Bust 21 Blackjack. The Casino has five Hold’em tables and three Blackjack tables and is open 24/7. There are $40 buy-in tournaments at 10:00 every morning which include breakfast, and nightly tournaments every day of the week. They also feature $40 pot-limit Omaha tournaments on Wednesdays at 6 p.m. and $40 Omaha Hi-Lo tournaments on Thursdays at 6 p.m.

FLB Casino spreads no-limit and limit Texas Hold’em games every day. Limit players coming to play on Friday nights get $100 in chips for $70 after 6 p.m. If you’re a late night player, FLB Casino has high hand giveaways every night from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m.
