The Cardroom's POY champ goes on road
By Raymond T. Akers

The Cardroom’s 2010 Player of the Year Contest is off to a rollicking start, with tons of points going to lots of players and coming from several different casinos throughout Northern California.

The big news in the POY contest is The Cardroom’s plan to take our current champion, Fresno’s Gerry Davidow, out on the road; hopefully to a casino near you!

This combination goodwill tour and title defense is still a work in progress, so no definite dates have been set yet—although we have determined that his first stop will be the Lucky Derby Casino in Citrus Heights. Keep your eye on our website (www.norcalcardroom.com) as we’ll keep you updated there about when and where Davidow will be appearing to say “hello” and add to his current point total.

So far this year’s race has been dominated by Lucky Chances Casino having entered the contest. Sure they have a tournament just about every day and both the buy-ins and field sizes are bigger than average, but the reason they’re generating so many points has more to do with the number of players they have signed up to participate; that, and the fact that those players seem to make the final table on a fairly regular basis.

The other news on the POY front is the recent addition of Turlock Poker Room as a cardroom offering points, so take your game over to Turlock and check out their (relatively) new cardroom if you haven’t already. TPR has signed up dozens of players for the POY race and the tournament results and points will be rolling in soon.

We’re four months into the season and still have seven more to go, so keep those tournament results coming in. Anyone can still win!
